Battery Saving tips
« on: May 27, 2011, 06:48:19 PM »
Does anyone have any good tips on how they save battery on the Android phones? My battery is just horrible and it seems like you guys know quite a bit about Android.

check what apps you have on your phone, and check their settings some dont allow your phone to "sleep" and some are updated so much that it will drain your battery faster.

ive gone through mine and with the apps i have i HAVE to charge it at least once a day or itll be really really dead when i wake up the next day.

When I'm not going to be able to charge it for awhile I just make sure to use a task killer app to go in and shut everything down.  Certain apps that I never use seem to always be running, so you can go into your settings as well and turn them off for good.

I also have the HTC EVO 4G, but only turn the 4G on when I really need it.  It drains the hell out of the battery.

yes car charger is definetely a good idea, wal-mart usually has a different brand for like 15 bucks, verses the 30 from the phone store.

oh and if your gonna be using the gps app itlll KILL your battery in like an hr if the phone is funny charged...

Best way to save battery life is to limit your pron usage.  Or so I've heard.

Android sucks for battery life and some phones are better on battery life than others.  Here's two apps I use and a tip:

Auto WiFi Toggle will shut off and turn back on your WiFi radio based on a schedule you set. http://www.appbrain.com/app/auto-wifi-toggle/com.appspot.eikatou0.autowifionoff

WatchDog is a task manager that will alert you to apps the misbehave and gives you the option of killing them. http://www.appbrain.com/app/watchdog-task-manager/com.zomut.watchdog

Tips: Battery Saving apps from the Market are trash and usually involve task killing or shutting off the GPS/WiFi/Bluetooth/Cellular radios which you can do yourself easily especially if you have Gingerbread.

Condition your battery when you get it and double capacity batteries are dirt cheap. Got one off of Amazon for my EVO for $8 that works like a charm.

Yup, I bought one for mine from a company called Seidio.  Got a battery with 500 extra mAh that's the exact same size as the one it came with.  Every little bit helps!
