Very nice! How well does it match up to the MT3G miD?

You got 4G in your area at all? I'd love some of that speed on the go!

it crushes my 3G slide in power, and totally dominates jenny's G1 in power.    we do have 4G in the area, and everything is so fast so far.       but i hear that it's not real 4G, and that nobody has that yet.    not the iphone, not the evo, nor this.     it's just a marketing thing... BUT.. it is much faster than the normal 3G they say.

i'm sure you've heard of this whole, "no 4g" yet... right?    i think we have a thread here about it too.

T-Mobile MyTouch 4G Vs HTC Evo 4G

It would be a big battle of two phones with the same 4G network technology, but are withdrawn from different type. Basically, inside we will see if the HTC Evo 4G is still able to hit the newer phone released in the quarter 4 of 2010. Although you might argue that the Evo 4G is much better, when you take the consideration from the display sight. Before judging which phone is better than the others, let’s read on the discussion for a moment.

Connectivity
The Evo 4G is a CDMA phone that comes with Rev. A network, Wi-Fi with Wimax, Bluetooth with A2DP, and microUSB 2.0. On the other side, the T-Mobile MyTouch 4G is a GSM device with the strong capability of internet connection, for it sports HSDPA and HSUPA, Wi-Fi and DLNA, Bluetooth with A2DP, and miniUSB 2.0.

Size and Weight
The MyTouch 4G measures 121.9 x 55.9 x 10.9 mm and weighs in at 141.8 g, while the Evo 4G measures 122 x 66 x 13 mm and weighs in at 170 g.

Camera
The Evo 4G packed with higher resolution camera. It’s also has higher second camera at 1.3 MP , compared to MyTouch 4G that only gives you VGA videocall camera. However, for image quality, Higher pixels doesn’t always produce better images. For further details about the specification, you should read on the points below.

The MyTouch 4G’s camera is established with 5 MP, 2592 x 1944 pixels, autofocus and LED flash, and then the camera itself features geo-tagging only. On the other side, the Evo 4G hits the counterpart by building 8 MP camera with 3264×2448 pixels, autofocus, and dual-LED flash within, and runs the same geo-tagging feature. The video capturing capability is shared, for the two phones are able to record at 720p.

The pictures from the myTouch 4G were a bit darker providing more contrast and a richer image than the EVO 4G. This result was taken using default settings for this comparison for both still pictures as well as the videos. The videos were very much the same with the myTouch 4G offering better color and contrast than the EVO 4G.

Display
The MyTouch 4G comes with a bit smaller 3.8 inches screen than that the Evo 4G, which gives us 4.3 inches screen. However, both devices arrive at the same TFT capacitive touchscreen with different color enrichment, though. The MyTouch 4G grabs the 16M colors, while the Evo 4G gives you 65K colors. The display on the myTouch 4G looks better with deeper, richer colors but the added display real estate on the EVO 4G gives it an advantage when browsing, watching videos or movies so I’m calling it a draw.

There are several differences to share also. The Evo 4G gives you Multi-touch input method, Accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate, Proximity sensor for auto turn-off, and HTC Sense UI. The MyTouch 4G comes equips the display with Accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate, Optical trackpad, and Swype input method.

Performance
It can be stated that the MyTouch 4G is newer than the Evo 4G, which it is showed by the operating system within both phones. The MyTouch 4G comes with the latest Android 2.2 (Froyo), while the Evo 4G gives us the older Android 2.1 (Eclair). As for performance, myTouch 4G offered better results with the Quadrant Standard bench mark test. But in real usage speed test, the EVO 4G opened applications as quickly or quicker than the myTouch 4G. The myTouch 4G opened the first YouTube video just a bit quicker than the EVO 4G however they both opened the second one at the exact same time. When using the browser the myTouch 4G was quicker loading the same web pages and scrolling was just a little smoother then the EVO 4G so I’m giving this to the myTouch 4G but again it was very close.

The MyTouch 4G comes with newer Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8255 1 GHz processor, while the Evo 4G offers Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8650 1 GHz processor.

Storage
The MyTouch 4G offers 4GB internal memory capacity and 32GB and 8 GB space for the external memory. On the other side, the Evo 4G offers 512 MB RAM and 1 GB ROM. As for the external memory, the Evo 4G also comes with 32 GB and 8 GB included.

Battery Life
Based on the search result on the GSM Arena the writer found the MyTouch 4G has Li-Ion 1400 mAh offering 432 hours of standby time and 10 hours of talk time. On the other side, the Evo 4G gives us no exact numbers on how many hours the device can run, either the standby or talk time. However, we would get the device give us a bit longer battery life, for it has Li-Ion 1500 mAh within.

Conclusion
Finally we still take the processor and Android OS version as basic principles to decide the winner of the battle. And, it is obvious that the MyTouch 4G comes out to crown the tiara. Although you find it lacks of HDMI port, but the internal memory capacity is unbelievable to be paired with what the Evo 4G has.

here's a couple pictures of my live wall paper, with the Death Star 2, in the background...

this is the Qik video chat area... so far so cool with the video chat.   i just need more friends now with phones that are video chat capable!   "Tango" app, let's you get together video chatting with people that have different phones.  LOOK INTO IT!

back of the phone... nice 5mp camera, with led flash, and video camera is 720p, 30fps.

and here's a little cheesy, real cheesy video of my phone, with The Office soundboard app going on in the background.
