How about an apps post?

First one:
Name:Shelves
QR Code: (scan this with your Android phone to take it to the app in Android Market!)

What is it:
Shelves lets you scan any game/gadget/cd/dvd/Blu-Ray's barcode using your handset's built in camera and will download the details of the item, incouding the cover and add it to your shef. Once added you can mark items as loaned to a friend in your contacts book and it will also add a reminder to your calendar when you are due it back.

Quite a cool little app that lets you organise and keep record of all your stuff.

I am fortunate to say that I was able to spend the weekend playing with the pre-release version of the official G4 app for Android.  Available this morning in the Android Market, I am recommending this app to anyone with at least a passing interest in the television channel. Beyond that, I would say this (free) title is worthy grabbing if you are into video games, movies, and tech gadgets. So there's this site called AppBrain which I think so here have used to post their installed apps.  I think you can even subscribe to those people's lists and be updated when they download a well rated app.  It's a good way to find out what's popular and what's interesting.

(iOS has a site called AppShopper. It doesn't autoinventory like AppBrain does, but you can keep track of Owned/Wished lists.)

Beta Test This! TV Show Favs


I'm still feverishly playing around with this new app and I have to say, I am very impressed. TV Show Favs by MKDevelopment is a highly integrated and customizable application that keeps track of everything television for you. 

The very slick app allows the user to add their favorite TV shows and track everything about it.  The user can display information about the show (complete with thumbnail and overview), dates the show airs, information about the actors (via IMDB), set reminders, mark whether the show has been watched, and much, much more.

Its pretty clear to me the developer didn't rush anything to market because this app is very well thought out.  Even though its still in beta, TV Show Favs is very fluid, has a great UI, and is nicely integrated with the Android experience (notifications and calendar).  It does appear to have its fair share of bugs. Problems displaying the correct time and dates when adding to Google Calendar was a big one for me. The bugs it has seem to be minimal and easily circumvented (just change the date and time by hand in the pop up window).  The developer seems very excited and responsive, so I'm sure the bugs will be hashed out before it goes prime time.

On a side note, its pretty funny how life works sometimes. Yesterday, I decided to take control of my TV viewing schedule because I was tired of keeping all the dates in my head.  I created a separate Google Calendar and started to add dates to it regarding the premiere dates and times of the many TV shows I watch.  Lo and behold, this app appears on my radar that basically does for me what I was doing by hand.  Very cool!

Well what are you waiting for? Download it now as long as you're rocking Android 2.0.1 or better!!!  Look for a full review from me when the app comes out of beta.

Everyone should try Angry Birds! Rovio have released it for free on Android (ad supported) and it is a fantastic game!

i just got it off their site... but i don't see it chaz on my phone!   how the hell do i find it?   didn't download from the app store.

In your browser push "menu" then "Downloads" and it lists anything you've downloaded. Tap on the Angry Birds apk and it will install.

Rovio have put it on the Market now anyway. I'd suggest installing it from there now!

ya,, i just got it off the market now instead... i hope i can find that other file now.   want to delete it off and save some room.
