Larry Hryb comments on Sony's copious in-game content deals

Xbox’s Larry ‘Major Nelson’ Hryb provided his opinion on Sony versions of multiplatform games receiving more in the way of exclusive in-game content when compared to Xbox One or even PC versions of the same game.

A quote from Nelson at a Q&A session during PAX Australia 2016 says that: “Sony just decided to write a lot of cheques from that I understand; we certainly had the options, and we would look at it, but it’s like, is that the best way to spend money? Or should we work on creating maybe an Elite controller?

There’s no right answer. We look at every single opportunity and go, ‘Is this the best for the community and the best use of our money, or would it be better somewhere else, like working on Xbox One S or something like that?”

Xbox’s loss of exclusive in-game content this year has been apparent. One of the biggest losses was Microsoft’s partnership on the Call of Duty series with DLC for future COD games releasing first on PS4. If Microsoft is pouring all that extra money into items such as the Elite Controller, Xbox One S or maybe even the upcoming Xbox Scorpio, does 30 days of waiting for a new map to release really mean all that much to us as consumers? I don’t think so.

It would be nice for exclusive content to go away.. the exclusive features should be in the console, like better online, better GPU, etc..
