E3 2014 EA Press Conference, Caine's Notes
« on: June 09, 2014, 12:00:33 PM »
Warning, all these notes were taken during watching the conference and are very rough, I attempted to gather as much relevant and important information as possible, the format is very rough, and I may have missed some things, otherwise enjoy. There is a possibility I'll clean it up later but don't count on it.

EA E3 2014

1200: Star Wars openining, DICE, Battelfront, dev/concept art shots, captured actual props used in films for game, visted original movie locals, early in game footage teasers, all tease no filler

1203: Andrew Wilson CEO takes stage: fluff, blah blah,

1205: Dragon Age Inquisition: live musical number... footage we've already seen..... looks pretty, some new establishing shots, a lot of what appears to be in game footage, no gameplay.

Arryn Flynn Studio GM takes stage: fluff, gameplay! looks solid graphically, appears very DA2 style of combat, focus points on enemies (similar to dragon's dogma)

Screen shots of tactical combat ala DA1

Fist look at party characters, Standard Knights, Elf Archer/Rogue, Kinari Warrior/tank, Female Mage elluded to evilish, names provided (didn't catch them.) Oct 7th release

1212 Mass Effect Dev talk: "We litened to fans" fluff, lotta conceptual prototype footage/screenshots, all fluff and tease, Montreal Studios working on it (ME4), Edmonton is working on new (separate) (ME?) IP.

1214: Sims 4 Rachel Franklin takes stage: custimization stuff, look and personality,, bright and colorful, big focus on emotions and personalities, focus on sims emotes, focus on creating your stories, "personailty drive behavior", actions carrying over following day, etc., Gallery allowing people to share their sims/content, looks like an upgraded version of sims, if you like the Sims games, you should be stoked

1219: Bruce Lee Monolgue, UFC featuring Bruce Lee, dev and fighters swoon over Bruce, Dev takes stage Brian Hayes Creative Director, EA Canada, Gameplay shown, fighters have good detail, Bruce vs BJ Penn, look like pin has a qte? body damage indicators next to stamina bars, June 17 2014

1222:NHL15 Dean Richards Studio General Manager: player models look very good (all screen shots), lot of physics talk, arenas look detailed (screen shots), Gameplay: Models still look great, lifelike crowds, physics and motion looks very good, players emote very well in footage

1224: Patrick Soderlund EVP, EA Studios: Criteron Games: Game is in early development: Dev Talk: helicopters ATV shown, boats, wingsuits, parachutes, jet ski, influenced by First Person Footage on youtube etc., looks lke they are going for a "GoPro" The video game

1228: Cam Weber Tiberon: Frostbite3 engine in PGA Tour, no loadtimes between holes, being able to explore entire cources, wildlife, extreme fantasy courses, showed playing golf during a battle

1230: Madden 15, focus on Defense, camera behind you option on D, UI showing where you are pushing lanes, multi moves, multiple tackles to make tackling actually work in madden? "more control on defense than ever before instead of feeling like a liability", game looks very nice dynamic looking arena/crowd
NFL Defense History vid. All claims state playing defense in Madden is actually a thing

1233: Dawngate, Dev Video "if we're making a MOBA we don't want to clone" dialogue with players, flexable metagame, MOBA fans for MOBA fans,

1235: Andrew Wilson takes stage: fluff, "we embrace open dialgoue" fluff fluff

1237: Mirrors Edge 2 Dev Diary, want to allow/focus non linear gameplay routes, etc, combat seems more focused/practical, focus on story and character motivation

1240: FIFA 15 David Rutter takes stage: more of the same from other EA sports titles, lots of focus on player emotes, dynamic arenas/crowds, upgraded ball physics and player movements, dynamic matchday presentation, living pitch, grass being torn up nets moving on impact, nice gameplay trailer
FIFA as ever looks to be the best made EA Sports game

1245: BAttlefield Hardline: Steve Papatouis, Karl-Magnus (sp, lastname?) take Stage, cops vs robbers, "more like a traditional tv crime drama than a traditional open world game" (paraphrased) 32 player online, game appears to having interesting presentation for events, multiplayer gameplay shown, gameplay looks very standard battelfield fair, more urbam, lots of cars and such opposed to military vehicles, robbers get loot and try to escape?, looks like a "civillian battlefield game" could be pretty neat, a fresher take on the FPS than normal fare, battlefield 4 levels of destruction/building chases, levels seem pretty damned large, high action, "Hell Yeah delicious donuts spotted"
beta hardline, closed beta availble today on PC and PS4
If you have battelfield 4 you should be able to play hardline beta super easy
Oct 21st
Livestream on twitch, and playing on ps4 at show Beta is live, show over

Entirity of show was based off of concept footage and dev diaries, pretty yawn, outside of Hardline and GoPro the game, pretty meh, once again, my grade D+, too much dev diaries and concept footage

So far Hardline is the only game I am getting excited about. I think it is a great concept. Of course I want to play Batman but that is next year. Tomb Raider looks awesome too. Thanks for that in the MS thread as I have not heard anything about it up until that point. Looks awesome
