E3 2014 MS Press Conference, Caine's Notes
« on: June 09, 2014, 10:06:41 AM »
Warning, all these notes were taken during watching the conference and are very rough, I attempted to gather as much relevant and important information as possible, the format is very rough, and I may have missed some things, otherwise enjoy. There is a possibility I'll clean it up later but don't count on it.

*Updated and cleaned up about as best as it's going to get

930: Show opens showing general flashes of various games

Spencer takes stage, PR fluff, blah blah blah

Call Of Duty

935: States dedicating entire presentation to games

Announces COD Advance Warfare, MS get's DLC first per usual

Background building textures not particularly impressive, character models are nice though, actually all textures that aren't char models pretty lack luster, lighting is good

sound quality is higher, no signs of dogs, fish, and we only got a brief glimpse of Kevin Spacey 3/10 would not fap again. ;)

Forza 5/Horizon 2

0945: Forza Talk: Announces Nurburgring for F5, starts today (6/9/2014), free.

Horizon 2: 200 hundred+ Cars, day/night cycle, weather, 1080p, Forza 5 engine, F5 driveatar already playing in FH2, Sept 30th release

car pron aplenty

seamless multiplayer

1000 player car clubs

Evolve (new IP)

950: 2k Studios: announces Evolve. creators of left for dead, very "Aliens looking" choose classes, darker borderlands? play as human class or monster ala left for dead.

Assassin's Creed Unity

18th century eve of revolution Paris AC Unity, exclusive to next gen, looks like a "proper assassin's game" (meaning same tired ass shit) oh but wait, he's wearing blue this time, so it's different!

co-op multiplayer campaign?

1000 dev game memory talk

Dragon Age: Inquisition

Dragon Age III, premiere content first on Xbox, looks decent visually, no confirmed gameplay

Sunset Overdrive

Sunset Overdrive, tongue in cheek humors, blatant jab at standard FPS, colorful cartoony, bright and nonsensical, seems pretty douche/hipsterific

Ted Price (Insomniac) takes stage: shows gameplay, no sense of momentum or speed from grinding or hook line riding, (or generally anywhere...) over the top and silly, release date Oct 28th 2014

Dead Rising, 4 player online co-op, crazy dlc costumes capcom paradyness, available now

1010: Harmonix: Fantasia Music Evolved:

Dance Central Spotlight: Dance to top hits week after week, (standard release of content you would expect from Harmonix ala Rock Band 3)

Short and sweet about 2 minutes

Fable Legend: mutilplayer beta coming in fall, looks nice, can play as villain, kinda Dungeon Master like ala Dungeons and Dragon's, set traps, monsters, etc, combat looks like it might be improved and more varied than previous Fable titles

more dev talk (stage setter)

Project Spark

XBOne/PC exclusive... CONKER!?  :woot!: only in project spark....  :tumble:

XBONe exclusive: Limbo/Braid looking game, very arty, pretty, Moon Studios, Ori and the Blind Forest  Release Fall 2014

more dev talk (halo)

HALO

1020 Halo, crazy remastered vid of Halo2 ending, player is an internal investigator trying to bring Master Cheif in??? "Reed" (may not of heard that right) telling the entire tale of MC, leading up to new halo, Halo Master Chief Collection, 1 2 3 and 4, multiplayer confirmed, new/classic look at a button press,

over 100 multi maps, every map ever released 1-4, original engines, 1080p 60fps, 4,000 gamerscore

Release Date: November 11th 2014

Halo Nightfall: (TV series)

Halo 5 Guardians: December Beta, Pre-order Collection, get beta, 60fps dedicated servers,

Limbo 2

(sorry no reliable video at this time...)

1030 Limbo 2, looks like next gen limbo, more humans/ doesn't look as lonely, titled "Inside"?

Indie Love Time!

Chris Charla: ID@Xbox, indie talk, lotta name drops of games, 100+ish game montage,

dev talk

1035: Tomb Raider 2 Rise of the Tomb Raider:

Witcher: The Wild Hunt

Witcher 3 The Wild Hunt: looks ridiculously good visually, can transverse any viewable location in world, focus on monster hunting quests, how you can track beast and dynamic gameplay inbetween, huge scope, looks like more witcher, never a bad thing

1045: Ken Lob: KI, TJ Combo Trailer

Phantom Dust trailer

Tom Clancy's: The Division

Gamine Massives, Ryan Barnard: Tom Clancy's The Division, new content MS First, interesting investigation mode thingy, mutil-co-op campaign? (audio staged but probably a good thing), looks impressive coming 2015

Scalebound

1052 Hideki Kamiya: New IP Exlusive: Platinum Games: Trailer looks very King Kong like, looks like a monsterhunter feel game Title: Scalebound interesting concept vid

Crackdown 3

David Jones: Platinum Games: Exclusive XBOne, dedicated servers, open world, Crackdown 3, very crackdownesk over the topness

Close of show

1100 Phil Spencer: promises, fluff, blah blah, game wrap up montage, Quantum Break and Gears logo shown, no "one more thing" moment.....

My personal thoughts on the show

C+ nothing I was really interested in but they did what they needed to, new IPs, and they were pretty much all games games games

If I was into Halo it's likely be a B+

Lemme know how you like it now that I cleaned it up a bit.

Good looks man. I don't remember seeing the Tomb Raider video when I watched the broadcast on XBOX video. I wasn't too impressed with the conference overall. These are becoming so predictable now. New Call of Duty, "new" Assassin's Creed. I was stoked to hear about a new Forza, until I heard it was another Horizons game.
This my BOOMSTICK!

Overall everything at this E3 was fairly meh. There were no big or shocking moments, neither positive or negative.

Horizon was a solid game, sure not a sim, but a lot of fun for what it is. Going to Euro in H2 is very very smart. It should be freaking awesome. Albeit at 30fps.....

I will be honest; I am kind of biased toward arcade racing games. Like COD I kind of lost interest in them LONG ago.

Fair enough, Horizon isn't what I'd call a straight up arcade racer nor a straight up sim, kinda inbetween. Certainly not for everyone, too realistic for some, not realistic enough for others.

Speaking of newer titles; The Division might be killer
