Abrams did an excellent job with Star Trek.  But I'm not sure how I feel either Mid.  I wanted Whedon.

^This.

I don't know how I feel about Abrams in general, whether that be in regards to Trek or Wars. He did good work with Trek sure, and him being on board in a way means they're freaking serious about trying to do Wars right.

I'd feel a lot more secure with Whedon at the helm, knowing he's a superfan.

Yea Whedon would be a great choice, however i think they probally got the second best option if he was out of the picture. He did a great job with the new Star Trek and its actually weird i would think him doing strar trek would conflict in some way but apparently not.
Let me hit you with some REAL TALK

i think a han solo prequel could be great.   i'd love to see him do the kessel run.   he also started of as a pilot for the Empire... supposedly the story goes he saves Chewbacca when he see's him imprisoned on a Destroyer or something like that.    then they're on the run, and hence Chewies loyalty fo life.         but i'd like to see it.

Yoda.. meh.. his origin would be cool to see in the early years i guess.. maybe watch his rise to power.   not sure though..i rather see the Han.

Oh don't get me wrong these definitely could be awesome if handed correctly. I'd just feel more comfortable if VII was given a bit more development time and then on top of that they're already announcing spin-offs? It just sounds a lot like a "strike while the iron is hot cash grab" and that concerns me. I mean with VII supposed to come out in 2 years and they just announced J.J. is on board it all just seems really rushed...
