« on: June 20, 2011, 10:20:47 AM »
i seriously need to freaking move, when a freaking us marshall being killed doesnt at least stop people shooting eachother for a week or to i dont know what the hell will. were up at at least 5 now?!?!?

Police in Kinston are investigating another shooting this morning. It's the fifth one so far this month.

It happened around 10:30 a.m. near the corner of Wilson Avenue and Eastover Avenue. That is about three blocks from Friday morning's murder which killed 63-year-old Elwood Hill.

Police spokesman Woody Spencer says the male had been shot and was found lying in the middle of Eastover Avenue. He believes the shooting happened in the street and not in any nearby home.

The victim was taken to Lenoir Memorial Hospital and Spencer says then onto Pitt County Memorial Hospital.

Police have not made any arrests in the shooting.

This is the fifth shooting in Kinston this month, three of those having turned into homicides. Mayor B.J. Murphy has scheduled a 4:15 p.m. news conference to address the recent rash of violence in his city.

On June 2nd Thomas Hinton was gunned down at the intersection of Mitchell and Lenoir streets as he rode his bicycle home from work. A week later Deputy Warren Lewis was fatally shot as he and other lawmen tried to arrest three teens for Hinton's murder.

On Friday Elwood Hill was murdered at his workplace in what appears to have been a robbery and on Saturday Seth Gower was wounded on West Washington Street in what police say was a domestic shooting.
