KISS is going country at the largest outdoor rodeo in the US.

KISS, Bentley, Lambert will all perform at CFD

Quote
CHEYENNE -- The flamboyant rock group KISS will perform on the opening Friday night of Cheyenne Frontier Days this year.

And Dierks Bentley and Miranda Lambert have joined the lineup.

A anonymous CFD official confirmed that KISS -- known for its members' painted faces and wild stage outfits -- will perform. The official asked for anonymity because final negotiations over details are ongoing.

But the announcement was made to CFD volunteers last week.

KISS will play on July 23. The band has never performed at CFD before.

According to its Web site, KISS has more than 30 years of record-breaking tours, with performances including Super Bowl XXXIII, the 2002 Winter Olympics and the 2009 American Idol Finale.

Popular songs include "Rock And Roll All Nite," "Calling Dr. Love," "Detroit Rock City" and "Beth."

Younger generations may know founding member and bassist Gene Simmons from his reality show called "Gene Simmons Family Jewels."

Ticket prices and an on-sale date have not been announced yet.

CFD did officially announce Monday that Bentley and Lambert will perform on July 29. Tickets for that show go on sale March 5 for $28 to $48.

Bentley also performed at CFD in 2004 and 2006.

His current album, "Feel That Fire," has kept him on the country charts for more than a year. Song titles include "Sideways," "I Wanna Make You Close Your Eyes" and "Feel That Fire."

His style blends honky-tonk and bluegrass in his rock songs and ballads.

A Country Music Association Horizon Award winner, Bentley has had 10 Top 10 singles and five No. 1 singles.

Lambert also performed at CFD in 2008.

Her third album, "Revolution," debuted at the top of the Billboard Country Album chart with the song "White Liar" becoming her first No. 1 tune.

She is a three-time Grammy nominee.

Pat Moffit, CFD's Contract Acts Committee chairman, said he expects Lambert to do well in the Country Music Association awards this year.

CFD also announced that The Band Perry will open for Brooks and Dunn on July 24; Danny Gokey will open for Sugarland on July 30; and Josh Turner will open for Alan Jackson on July 31.

"There were several weeks of back and forth to get this year's lineup completed," Moffit said.

As always, the committee looked at several possibilities for acts, but they didn't all work out with the schedules.

"I'm extremely excited about the entire lineup," Moffit said. "I think we're still in the A-list category."

Rod Hottle, the general chairman, agreed.

A foot of snow on the ground and another 8 inches coming today.  My kids are loving these snow days home from school, they are perfecting their minecraft village.  Havent had this kind of spring snow since I moved here 10 years ago.  Pic is looking out my front porch at my neighbors side lawn.

Yeah, but it's going to be really windy again.  SUcks.   I hate when it's all windy and crap.  At least it's not sleeting or anything.  I wouldn't mind the snow, besides all of my plants dying... I would be PISSED!
