Very unfortunate indeed.  Let's all hope this wasn't linked to steroid use.

I was thinking of calling off tonight to go to this game I didn't. Something was telling me to go see him but I didn't. I turned the game on my XM right after the final out.

Breaking News Ken Griffey Jr is retiring. Man that sucks he was the one that should have had the home run record not Bonds.

Injuries derailed what would have been the greatest home run hitter of all time. :(  I always wonder if things would have been different if he had never gone to the damn Reds.  That's when all the injuries started happening.  Hamstring pull after hamstring pull.  Something makes me think he just didn't have a good foot hold on that field.  For whatever reason.

Hats off to you Ken Griffey Jr.  Thanks for all the home runs, wall climbs, diving catches, and most importantly, the best smile I've ever seem on a MLB player.  No matter what, he always looked like a kid just having fun out there.  That's what I'll miss most.

Gallaraga got fucked over on his perfect game. They better hope that nothing happens to that ump in Detroit.

Perfection StoLEN!

I just watched quite possibly the worst call ever.  Detroit Lions pitcher Armando Galarraga took a Perfect Game into the 9th inning.  With the help of an amazing play in centerfield he gets the first two outs.  But the final out of the game is BloWN by the first base umpire who ruled the runner safe when he was obviously out to everyone else.  To those of you who don't know baseball that well, only 20 perfect games have been thrown in the history of the MLB.   And they play a crap load of games every year.  This guy had his name ripped out of the record books and Baseball Immortality.  I wonder how they feel right now, both Galarraga and the unnamed umpire...

I wish he would have stayed healthy and broken the HR record instead of roid boy bonds.   Yeah, I know I didn't capitalize barrys name, big deal.

Sad to hear Griffey Jr is retiring but I guess it was due. I still think he's one of the best players to play the sport. Hall of famer for sure

As for Galarraga, my friend who's a big baseball fan went apeshit on FB over it lol

What I think is that Bud Selig should overturn the call. Give the guy what he is due. After what jackson did with 1 out and then for this to happen. Something needs to be done with instant replay so they can't fuck plays up like this. Not with history on the line. He even admitted he was wrong Selig should do the right thing and overturn.

Galarraga
Jon Heyman of SI.com reports that Commissioner Bud Selig will have a statement on Thursday regarding Armando Galarraga's almost perfect game.
Baseball officials have reportedly convened in order to review Wednesday's blown call by umpire Jim Joyce, which prevented the 21st perfect game in major league history. While Selig has the power to reverse the call, we're not counting on him to do that. At the very least, it should open the door to expanded instant replay so the same mistake isn't made again. I have no idea why/how that idiot ump calls that safe.  One would think he too would have wanted to be a part of history by being the ump to call the final out.  Fucking moron.  I seriously doubt Selig overturns this.  It would set a bad precident.  What we'll probably get is instant replay added for next season.  The look on Miguel Cabrera's face after the call says it all.
