Funny thread title..

Gotta roll with my clanmates. I should also be getting the 360 version for SP/MP purposes as well down the road.

Quote

As you may be aware, some customers have been unable to connect to the PlayStation Network today. This problem affects the models other than the new slim PS3.

We believe we have identified that this problem is being caused by a bug in the clock functionality incorporated in the system.

Errors include:

    * The date of the PS3 system may be re-set to Jan 1, 2000.
    * When the user tries to sign in to the PlayStation Network, the following
message appears on the screen; “An error has occurred. You have been
signed out of PlayStation Network (8001050F)”.
    * When the user tries to launch a game, the following error message appears
on the screen and the trophy data may disappear; “Failed to install
      trophies. Please exit your game.”
    * When the user tries to set the time and date of the system via the
Internet, the following message appears on the screen; “The current date
and time could not be obtained. (8001050F)”
    * Users are not able to play back certain rental video downloaded from the
PlayStation Store before the expiration date.

We hope to resolve this problem within the next 24 hours. In the meantime, if you have a model other than the new slim PS3, we advise that you do not use your PS3 system, as doing so may result in errors in some functionality, such as recording obtained trophies, and not being able to restore certain data.

As mentioned above, please be advised that the new slim PS3 is not affected with this error. We are doing our best to resolve the issue and do apologize for any inconvenience caused.

For the latest status on this situation please continue to check either the PlayStation.Blog or PlayStation.com.

My guys aren't even concerned with the console war which is why my site doesn't have a smackdown area. Agreed. I'm a gaming nomad so I follow the games. Regardless of how zealous I was, I still gave the games a chance. It's not to fit anyones agenda. I spend my money on a shitload of games and you guys know that.

and this really sucks that you can't even turn on your ps3 without risk of erasing trophies.. this is real crazy.

Holy fucked up fuckup batman! I've just caught wind of this.....

I'm in gaming limbo at the moment as I can't be arsed to play anymore but I thought I'd pop in to contribute. :o

One thing I want to ask is how on earth are they going to fix this if simply turning the thing on is a risk?

Ya, I couldn't believe the headline when I read it:Don't turn on the system!?!?! Even when Live was at it's worst, Microsoft never told us not to do anything on it!  In hind sight, I'm so glad I never turned mine on.

I wonder if Linux touting ps3 owners are affected (those cell powered server farms) or Play TV owners who have scheduled recordings setup?

Imagine your PS3 turning on to record a TV program and you losing all your shit (and your scheduled recording failing as it thinks it's 2000 again)....

Epic fuckup is epic!

OK so not to threadjack but I didn't realize BC2 was coming out TOMORROW!!!! And I was def getting it on 360. I remembered Amazon had a $20 credit towards next game purchase if you preordered through them. 1 day away from launch and I think I was able to get the credit since it showed up on screen

ZING! I'm good at COD but much better in BF. See you all on the battlefield soldiers!

so is this fix going to be an online update?  or is it just work itself out?
