Title: MLB 2012...
Post by: mischa316 on April 22, 2012, 06:42:58 AM
So on the 20th we have 2 inside the park homeruns and one triple play.

Boston celebrates their 100 years in fenway park and we (Yankees) pound out 5 home runs against Buckholtz.
We have on the 21st a Perfect Game by Humber on the White Sox.

Yankees come back down 9-0 to beat Boston 15-9.

It was kinda funny I was listening to the Yankees Boston game on my XM Radio.  They talked about the Perfect game for Chicago at the end of the 7th.
So since my Yankees were getting beat 7-0 at the time I switch to the Seattle broadcast since XM only does the home team broadcast.  At that time it was the top of the 8th.  So I was about to go inside so I unplug my XM since once I turn my car off the radio would turn off.  So I ran my XM off of batteries.  So I get back right when the bottom of the 9th is about to come on.  So I start recording the game in the bottom of the 9th not knowing if he would get it or not so he ends up getting the perfect game and I had it recorded!!

So then I turn it back on the Yankees Boston game where we were down by 1  at this point.  Then Swisher hits a 2 run double and we take the lead.  This had to be one of the greatest games I had ever heard well part of it!!

GIVE YOU ALL THE NEWS ON THE BOYS IN BLUE
It's unanimous: Dodgers' Matt Kemp is NL player of the month

As a shock to absolutely no one, Matt Kemp was selected Wednesday the National League player of the month for April.

It was either that, or just retire the award.

That clearly was never a danger since Kemp was a unanimous selection. He was twice the player of the week in April.

Kemp finished the month leading the majors in batting average (.417) and home runs (12), and the NL in runs batted in (25), hits (35), runs (24) and slugging percentage (.893), and was second in on-base percentage (.490). Otherwise, he didn’t do a whole lot.

It was his first player-of-the-month award.

The tension and frustration first baseman Albert Pujols is feeling about the worst extended hitting slump of his career appears to have spilled out this week.

--1B Albert Pujols went hitless in four at-bats but did drive in a run with a ground out in the third inning. That was Pujols' first RBI since April 15 against the Yankees, a span of 14 games without driving in a run. He has now gone 96 at-bats and 24 games into the season without a home run. His average dropped to .208 with Tuesday's hitless game.

Merchandising alone will pay for his contract and then some, not really a big concern. Even if he's going to go significantly downhill from here on out, it was a wise business move.

Karma for what?  Taking your team to the World Series and winning?  And then leaving... there's nothing wrong with that.  Tell me you wouldn't leave for that kind of money, anybody in their right minds would.  Going to So Cal to play for a franchise that loves their fans, and their fans love them back?  It's not like he went to the pre- new management Dodgers
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.
or some other team that sucks, just for the money.  And he didn't do anything like Lebron.  Pujols actually has enough class to ask for the "El Hombre" signs the Angels put up be taken down because that was the nickname of a former St. Louis great.

oh, and goodnight Mariano Rivera... you are done for.  way to bust your ACL shagging balls.   incredible.   what a sucky way for your career to end.

Thats not very nice, have to feel bad for the guy.  It was going to be his last year, and to have a "freak" accident like that.  You never know man, people go down for all kinds of things all the time.  Better be careful out there playing ball, or shit, anything for that manner.  Shit, T. A. (our football pool commish) blew out his knee running to first base while playing softball.  Especially when you're talking about Karma.  Maybe a little more sympathy is deserved?

Karma for leaving his team he was with like Lebron left his.... Karma for when St Louis offered him millions upon millions upon millions of dollars to stay with said team that just won the championship and try to win it again, and have his wife say about the offerings of the millions upon millions from St Louis.... "That amount they offered was an insult"

Karma.

Just like Lebron... just like Trevor Ariza, and just like any other money grubbing greedy piece of shit!  :woot!:

I'm so happy seeing this happen to Pujos and the Angels!

LET'S GO DODGERS AND MAGIC JOHNSON!!  :drinks2:

Pujols left the Cardinals NOTHING like Lebron left the Cavs.  Ariza left the Lakers to be a starter, can't really blame him for that either.

Pujols will break out, I just hope the team as a whole starts playing well enough to not get in too much of a hole against the stupid Rangers.

He just has to hit that first one and it'll all be over with, it's messing with his head man!

The shift is really messing with Pujols.  He's going to have to learn to go the other way.  Who knows how many hits he's had taken away by it.

And Poor Pooooooor Ervin Santana... the guy is 0-6 in his six consecutive starts.  But I just heard this on ESPN... His last 5 starts, he has gotten ZERO run support, yep.  He's started his last five games and the Angels have been shut out in each.  I don't care who you are, you're not going to get a win if your freaking team can't even score A SINGLE RUN for you.  Poor guy.

So now that Pujols finally hit his first homerun as an Angel they can start firing on all cylinders and hopefully winning more games.  So I checked the standings to see what's going on.  They're only 6.5 behind Texas which is nothing this early in the season.  But according to their record, guess who is the best team in baseball at a whopping 19-9?  The Freaking Baltimore Orioles!

Everything ive heard about Mariano is he is a class act so i feel bad for him, even though i hate the Yankees. As for Pooholes, nah i wouldnt care that much about money if id already made as much as him you can only have so much what do i need to wipe my ass with golden toilet paper? But it was his decision and i think the Cards are better off since you always have to factor atleast 3 more year of age onto Hispanics so likely the angles signed a guy into his mid t 40s good luck getting that investment back.  Hate seeing him in the AL West but so far he hasnt earned a base salary so im good to this point

Also the way Pooholes left STL was in no way close to the way ARod Left Seattle or Lebron left Cleveland, no saying i want to play for a contender and then signing with one of the worst teams in the league. or totally disrespecting your homestate team and having a TV show and cockily saying your leaving.

The day after I ask for a Dodger update we get one... sort of.  Stay Classy Dodger Stadium.  I don't believe the article says who they were rooting for, but I hope they were both Dodgers fans... otherwise opposing fans will really not feel safe going to this stadium anymore.  All the more reason to do the best thing I've heard of.  Tear it down and build a football stadium, move the Dodgers downtown!

Quote
LOS ANGELES -- A driver was beaten in the Dodger Stadium parking lot after a weekend game and four people were arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, police said Monday.

The driver, a man in his 20s, was in stable condition with scrapes and cuts to his face and his injuries are not life-threatening, Sgt. David Armas said. His name was not released.

The man was involved in a minor collision with another driver as he was leaving the stadium parking lot, and three men from another car also got involved, Armas said.

"They basically held the victim down while the original suspect kicked and hit him about the head and face area while he was on the ground," Armas said.

The violence comes after a Giants fan was severely injured in a beating during last year's opening game. Bryan Stow was left brain damaged during a confrontation in the parking lot, and stadium officials had promised to increase security after the attack.

Armas said Dodgers security staff and uniformed off-duty Los Angeles police were at the stadium Sunday and responded quickly.

Calls to Dodgers representatives seeking comment were not immediately returned.

The four men involved in the latest attack, all in their 20s, were arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon because the victim was kicked, Armas said. One of them suffered bumps and scrapes to his face, "probably as a result of the victim defending himself," Armas said.

A woman in the victim's car who was eight months pregnant was not hurt but she was examined at a hospital as a precaution, he said.

Armas said the suspects did not appear to have any street gang affiliations.

"It was just a minor fender bender that just got totally out of hand," he said.

So with the benches clearing between Tampa & Boston.  What a jackass Bobby V is saying oh you talk crap about our fans you will hear from us pretty much.  Maybe because the player is right and you are a bunch of cocky assholes.  God I hate Boston so much thanks to their shitty fans.  When the Rays and Red Sux were in the playoffs in '08 and I went to that game they were cocky, loudmouthed, and they do disrespect your family.  It was so bad I really wanted to trip a guy down the steps but he had his kid with him.  They are that bad.  I know exactly where he is coming from.  Bobby V should be suspended for this.  It's like Cole Hamels says he plunked Harper and was suspended.  If nothing happens with Bobby V there is something wrong.

Well on a better not Jeter is only 2 hits away from tying George Brett & once he ties him he will only be 30 hits away from Cal Ripken Jr.  That is exciting stuff right there.

Trumbo!  Walked it off against the Yanks today.  Weaver had to leave in the first after he apparently hurt his back... Hopefully for the Angels it's nothing major, but it didn't look too good.  Big win for the Angels, win this series against the Yankees and win the next one when Texas comes into town and things will be looking good.

And oh yeah, we might have a rookie of the year here in Anaheim as well.  For anyone that doesn't know who Mike Trout is, you will before too long.  A real 5 tool player, the guy has it all.

(The Angels had a fly over today with some F-16's I believe they were, saw them fly over the stadium on TV and thought to myself... holy crap!  The direction they flew over should have them over my house in H.B. in no time.  Went and grabbed my shades, walked outside just in time to see them cruising by.  Awesome! )

Santana first no hitter in Mets history.  Good for them it's about time.  Now the only one left is the San Diego Padres.  I was actually able to record it on my XM.  I was listening to my game which had Detroits broadcasters and they said he had it through 8.  So I turn on the Mets station and was able to record the call!!  Pretty exciting stuff!!

It might have an *... Still a no hitter but that ball was on the line, bigtime.  Even took a big ol chunk of chalk out of it.  But the call went his way and he finished the job.  Good for him and the Mets.

The Mariners used 6 different pitchers to no-hit the Dodgers.  Once again a controversial call was in the mix... Gordon looks like he probably beat out a high chopped bouncer to the shortstop but was called out. He might have had it by a toe, but in a no-hit bid you normally won't get that call to go your way.  bang bang play that could have gone either way, happens all the time but gets magnified in a no hitter.

It seems as though every no-hitter/perfect game so far this year has had some controversy... with exception to Weavers no-hitter.  The only one that was LEGIT by all means.  Although the perfect game would have most likely remained a legit no hitter had the guy not been called for his check swing, and walked to first as long as he retired the next batter... but who knows?

And you really couldn't even call him "little fish", but I know you're just joking with that anyways.   :pickit:  How is it they had a Salmon and now a Trout? Crazy!

Rubber game between the Angels and Dodgers tomorrow night... Rivera won it with his 3 run shot in the 8th.  I wasn't able to watch much of any of the game as I was at work, but from what I saw the Angels got out of the 8th when Conger threw that dude out trying to steal second.  Maybe I saw it wrong and he was actually safe, oh well.  These things happen.  Win it tomorrow and take the series.

Edit - Shitballs, just saw the highlight on Sportscenter.  Gordon was gunned down at second but called safe.  Williams hung a piece of junk for Rivera and thats that.  Booooo!   :lurker:

Always good to see something like this without any "questionable" calls.  There was one shot down the first base line that was properly called foul, but very very close.

And there could have been a No-Hitter for the Mets as well, but 3b Wright tried to barehand a ball down the line in the first which he should have gloved... I bet he's pretty pissed about that.  How it was a hit and not an error will be looked into, and maybe even changed?  A little home cooking gave the home team a hit instead of an error, but there was no way to tell that early that it would be the only "hit" of the game.

Yeah, up to this point if Trout isn't at least the Rookie of the year there is something seriously wrong.  Angels are 39 - 14 ( I believe thats what I read) since Trout was brought up... Best in baseball during that span...

Also Jeter is now tied with Ripken then he needs 58 to tie Nap Lajoie who was a player from the 1800s.

Why does everyone think Ichiro is gonna get 3k with the Yanks you derpdaders realize he is a FA after the season and has been pretty freaking bad the last 2 years. He might raise that BA a little bit because of you stacked lineup but dont expect 200 hits out of the guy. I highly doubt he even makes that mark hes still like 450 away and at the rate hes hitting, yea thats gonna take like 4-5 seasons.

Yup, he's getting pretty old.  Going to be hard for him to be successful with his hitting style as the body begins to wear down.  And with his lack of power there's not going to be a chance for him to hit that DH role and continue playing.

As long as he doesn't turn out like Kazmir it's a great pickup for the Halo's.  Santana has been shaky at best of late.  He's gotten kinda fat too, at least he has in the face so who knows what thats all about.  Maybe the dude's been boozin it up too much.  Great addition for the Angels though.  Only losing their shortstop prospect and a couple AA pitchers.  Good deal for a proven starter.

His best Season did yes, but his other only other 2 good season  are about the same as his performance in MIL, The year he undeservingly won the CY Young he had the easiest schedule for a starting pitcher in all of the majors, im sure that more than explains his above his normal #s.

Greinke is a better overall pitcher than Kazmir so that should be a problem just dont expect him to set the world on fire, hes not as good as Weaver.

Well yeah, but nobody is as good as Weaver this year... sorry Verlander.

Um verlander has 40 more innings pitched than weaver and only 3 more starts, Weaver has been great but  Verlanders body of work speaks for itself. And yes 40 innings is a big big deal, alot could change for Weaver in that time. Though i hope not cause hes on my fantasy team.

Hanley Ramirez looks at home with game-winning homer in 10th

Quote
The Dodgers were a team in need of a hero, so they went to the new guy and he delivered. Just the way they planned.

Hanley Ramirez, the most significant position player to be moved before Tuesday’s looming nonwaiver trade deadline, hit his first home run as a Dodger and he made it count.

Ramirez followed an Andre Ethier two-out walk in the 10th inning with a two-run homer to propel the Dodgers to a 5-3 victory in the opener of their three-game series against the Giants in AT&T Park.

The victory snapped a three-game losing streak by the Dodgers and pulled them within two games of the Giants in the National League West.

The Giants threatened in the bottom of the 10th, getting lead-off singles from Melky Cabrera and Buster Posey, but closer Kenley Jansen retired the next three Giants to earn his 20th save.
The game was different for the Dodgers, if only in that they actually scored in San Francisco. Almost like it was allowed and everything.

The Dodgers went 32 consecutive innings without scoring a run in AT&T Park this season before they pushed a pair across in the fifth inning,

The Dodgers received an excellent emergency start Friday from rookie Stephen Fife. The 25-year-old was called up before the game after the Dodgers traded No. 5 starter Nathan Eovaldi on Wednesday to the Marlins for Ramirez.

All Fife did in his second major league start was outpitch Giants ace Matt Cain. In his only other start, he outpitched Roy Halladay. In two career starts, Fife has yet to earn a decision, but has a 1.46 earned-run average.

Fife, acquired last season from Boston along with catcher Ted Federowicz for minor league outfielder Trayvon Robinson, held the Giants to one run on six hits in 6 1/3 innings. He also held the Phillies to one run in the six innings of his debut.

The only run he gave up came in the second after Brandon Belt had singled and Brandon Crawford walked. Cain then surprised Fife with a line-drive single to score Belt.

Cain was fairly cruising, continuing to frustrate the Dodgers’ offense as he entered the fifth. Fife started his trouble with a two-out double. Jerry Hairston Jr. followed with a run-scoring double, snapping the Dodgers’ overall scoreless streak in San Francisco at 38 innings. Mark Ellis singled in Hairston to give the Dodgers a 2-1 lead.

The Dodgers got to Cain for one more in the sixth when Ethier doubled and scored on a James Loney single.

Cain left after seven innings, having given up three runs on nine hits.

The Dodgers still led, 3-1, going into the bottom of the eighth, but right-hander Ronald Belisario continued his recent struggles, surrendering a pair of runs to allow the Giants to tie it.

A single by Cabrera and a ground-rule double by Angel Pagan preceded a two-run single by Belt.

Belisario, who had a 0.95 ERA in his first 28 games, has an 8.71 ERA in his last 10 appearances.

this sums it up perfectly.

Quote
If you're keeping track at home, that means the Lakers essentially got Howard and Nash for Bynum, Odom and draft picks, and were able to keep Pau Gasol in the process.

um odom was gone last year, Nash was a FA signing wasnt he? you swapped a better offensive center for a better defensive center. And you have a 3 year contract with 39 year old point guard. Do i smell a amnesty contract after this season?

Should be an exciting season for you guys next year though, especially since the West is weak. The thunder are or were the best team and they have gaping holes.

Lotion's just mad that Mike Trout was the FIRST EVER player to have 5 RBI's off King Felix in a single game.

Angels offense is slumping.  I can't help but think that Vernon Wells is a freaking curse to this team!  He comes back and they suck.  Besides that...

It happens all the time, but the last few games I've watched I ALSO can't help but think the Angels are getting seriously JACKED by the umps.  All home fans always feel that way of course, and it is what it is.

Weaver gets out of the inning in which that dude hit the go ahead two run home run today had the Umpire called a strike that gets called 99% of the time.  Perfect pitch froze the dude, catches the corner but no... the ump decided to shrink the zone on Weaver today.  So freaking annoying.  It was so bad, the Angels pitching coach got tossed from the game in the first inning of the game, home plate ump had an Angel stick stuck up his ass today because he wasn't going to call shit their way.  And it showed with him tossing a coach from the bench IMMEDIATELY!  Butcher wasn't even on the field when he got tossed... paint the corner?  Nope, I'm going to make you throw it down the middle, but when the other guys pitch they can throw it a foot outside/inside and I'll ring them up.  Ugh, I hate being a fan... Rant over.   :caine:

He even admitted to using, saying he shouldn't have done it.    :3st:

Just watched the rebroadcast of the perfect game.  Since I have FSN Florida.  Had to listen to the Rays announcers.  I was also listening to MLB network radio on XM on my way home from work and heard about Cabrera.  I knew something was up he did not have near as much production for us as he did with the Giants.  So they play Poison Every Rose Has it's Thorn after they found out I'm like wow that's funny.

Nothing new they all deny it, i would have more respect if they just came out and admited it. Its not like most in the league arent on a illegal substance or something that would be if they could test for it. One thing becomes testable and the chemists go back to work searching for anotehr untestable. They try to say it doesnt help you hit better just adds muscle but look how much Melky's BA went up.

Derek Jeter is a beast this year.  He is now 12th place all time on the hits list with 3254 1 away from tying Eddie Murray for 11th place and is only 29 away from tying Willie Mays.  He has passed Biggio with runs scored for 13th all time with 1845.  He is now 9th place all time in Yankees home runs.  The best stat is him and Willie Mays are the only 2 players to have 3000 hits, 250 home runs, 300 stolen bases & 1200 rbi's.

Just another few milestones!!

Angels are stinking up a storm right now!

I got some inside info today, from a very reliable source and it seems as though Mike Scioscia will probably be fired before too long.  And he will probably welcome it.  It appears as though he has no control over his own team.  And it's not even his fault, the administration has control of who plays when and where.  Sounds a lot like the Raiders under Al Davis unfortunately.  Said news to hear...   :inergy:

Anyone see or hear about the line drive Brandon McCarthy of the A's took off the bat from Aybar?  Crazy, Scary and sad.  I was watching the game and damn, that thing hit him SQUARE on the head... loud.  Here's a link to the espn follow up story, he's still got a way's to go.  He ended up having "brain surgery" to relieve the pressure from the hemorrhage that occurred.  The video doesn't show it, but he sat up and rubbed his head for a while before eventually getting up and walking (under his own power) to the locker room.

http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/8350276/brandon-mccarthy-oakland-athletics-life-threatening-situation (http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/8350276/brandon-mccarthy-oakland-athletics-life-threatening-situation)

Makes you wonder how long until pitchers will start wearing helmets.  Base coaches already do...

Fuck the Rangers, Lost the last two World Series for the American League, GET THE FUCK OUT!.  See YA!  But I do hope the A's get knocked out too because I want the Raiders to have their full grass field back... even though the Raiders seem to only play well at home (based on one game against Pitt...  :pickit:)

As of right now Miguel Cabrera is going to be the first Triple Crown winner since Yastremski.  Leiland took him out after 2 at bats with a .330 average that was the only thing in question.  Granderson has been taken out of my game and he was two behind Carbera in home runs.  This is unbelievable we are actually going to see a triple crown in our lifetime.  I just hope he has not been jucing.

Now for my team Tampa beat Baltimore so we are the AL East Champs!!  For all the injuries we did pretty well with the best record in the AL oh yeah!!  Then we roll into the playoffs by kicking Bostons ass with 14 runs 15 hits and no errors!!  We set an all time Yankee record with 245 home runs in a season!!  All around AWESOME night.
